An affidavit from Richard Read, a blacksmith of Church Court, St Martins in the Field, Middlesex, denying that he has ever made allegations against Thomas Lascelles to the effect that he was an opponent of the government; however Read admitted to calling Lascelle's wife a cheat in taking up goods without paying, saying that she was as bad as the notorious cheat known as the 'German Princess'. Sworn before Charles Delafaye.
