Description

Part 2, Folios 13-15. From Victor Osborne and John Millard. To Charles Delafaye. Place: Newgate.

A detailed complaint over conditions of prisoners held for debt in Newgate Prison [London] and the fees payable, mentioning the judicial role of Richd [Richard] Harcourt, Lord Chief Justice Parker, Mr Justice Powell and Mr Justice Eyre. There is also a covering letter from Osborn, appealing to Delafaye as a fellow mason, mentioning the names of Grand Master Doctor John Theophilus Desaguliers and Viscount Paisley, outlining his own detention in Bristol [Gloucestershire], and referring to the assistance of William Bringhurst.
