Description

Part 2, Folio 6.

The Word for July. List of persons who receive the Monthly Word. Names include: the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Lord Chancellor, Lord Privy Seal, Lord Chamberlain, Duke of Grafton, Duke of Devonshire, Duke of Roxburgh, Mr Walpole, the Prince [of Wales], Secretary at Warr [George Treby], Constable of the Tower, Lord Mayor. Officer in waiting for the Foot Guards. Lord [Charles] Townshend [Secretary of State for the Northern Department] and Lord [Charles] Carteret [Secretary of State for the Southern Department] who are abroad, 'so the Word is not prepared for them'.
