'The letter from Lord Carteret that Mr Delafaye sends you came last night wherein His Lordship treating your letter to him so expressly as the Lords Justices commands, I avoided reading the whole letter to the Lords Justices, but run it over in my way, reading only what I thought proper. I was obliged to mention it now that I might have their consent to the acceptance of Wood's surrender, which is a necessary form, and now we shall have everything ready to send it away next Thursday. I am Harry Pelham's and Tom Spence's humble servant and all the ladies beyond measure and you know how truly and sincerely I am your affectionate and faithful servant'.
