Part 1, Folios 154-155. To Ph [Phillip] Caryll at North House near Petersfield Hampshire.
A cryptic letter about proposed methods of safely sending letters; writing to his friends with the King [the Pretender] and his resolve to live among his friends 'till near the time and then do it'. The writer says that what [Philllip Caryll tells him from Kitty Cat he has heard from several Catholics but is well assured there is no such information in any of the offices and 'such discourses being spread does harm, though not designed'. Letter taken out of Mr Caryll's desk by messengers 24 March 1723.
