A letter of reference, from John Drummond, formerly of Amsterdam [Netherlands], concerning John Semple [Sempill] [Sample], who lives in Marlborough Street [Middlesex], who was formerly a chief servant of the Earl of Errol, and who has business links with his brother-in-law [Peter] Minchell [Minshul] in Spain, in the Canary Islands and Bilbao, including with Drummond's correspondent Roger Slingar. The letter also mentions: Mr Hulsendorff who is the ambassador [William] Stanhope's secretary; Mr Gosling a director of the East India Company.
