An examination of Elizabeth Sample [Semple] , the wife of John Sample [Semple] [Sempill] of Marlborough Street [London] and originally from Scotland, and the brother of Peter Minshull [Minchell] merchant. Elizabeth says that her husband is not the same John Sample as an individual whose detention is being sought; she gives her reaction on being confronted by certain papers. She and her brother Peter inherited an estate in the Canary Islands and Madrid [Spain] from their uncle, James Trollop, merchant. The examination also mentions: Nat [Nathaniel] Bateman; Mr Berkley, a Scottish Episcopalian clergyman; and Mr [John] Drummond of Norfolk Street [London], a merchant, formerly of Amsterdam [Dutch republic].
