Part 2, Folios 78-83. From Will [William] Kateson. To James Johnson care of Lord James Murray.
Intercepted letter ending 'Your most affectionate brother and most humble servant'. The letter contains references to Mr Cooper, Lady Panmure and Nairn, Alexander Murray, Captain J [?James] Murray, 'our old Governour honest Mr Mitchell', Mr Mall, Lord Buchan's son and 'my dear good brother Charles'. The writer says 'You had fair claim of succeeding to such sort of honours as now forestalled in and should I never have children your merit to titles and estate would been valuable on all sides nay though right could never take place yet your just pretences of being allowed to use what honestly descended from a father and could not been rightly denied in the meantime whilst Scots titles are useless you had as honourable a place in the House of Commons as any other body but now you are gulled out of that and many things else'.
