Part 2, Folios 27A-28. To Duke of Newcastle.
Memorial of Thomas Molyneux and Robert Chaddock of Preston, Lancashire, two of the Justices of the Peace for that county complaining of the refusal of William Asheton and John Parr, sergeants of Preston, and the village constables to execute their warrants 'to the manifest stopping of justice', that the justices will be issuing warrants in vain 'if these offenders are not brought to justice to be a terror to others'. They desire they may be 'either justified encouraged and countenanced in the execution of their office or else excused and left out of Commission for the future'. Names mentioned are Thomas Leyland of Euxton, John Thornton the Mayor, Thomas Hankinson, one of the High Constables of Amounderness [Hundred near Fylde], Peter Taylor and William Bushell, a justice of the Peace.
