Description

Folio 34. From Bradwardine Jackson. Place: Torwood near Totnes, Devon.

Proposing that the annual licences for public houses for which the ale-drapers [ale house keepers] pay five shillings should be granted by the Collectors of Excise instead of the justices of the peace, who it is said share the money with their clerks, and thus the fees collected will benefit the state.
