Letter taken from the lodging room of Catherine Lucas by Daniel Chandler, Jos [?Joseph] Ellis and Jane Pickering on 21 October 1723 with references to Baker; Bacon; 'Cupid's Paradise'; 'the worthy Alderman'; and Mr Bateman. (Folio 92) Paragraph in French in the middle of the text in English. [The author] is asking their dear friend [Mrs Jacob] to pay [Andrew ?], to send what should be sent to Le Havre as soon as possible, and to let them know if their friends' ladies are in town. [The author] is also advising that with regard to [Mrs Jacob]'s riend's affairs, she should secure the most firm offer so she can put away some money; and are [Mrs Jacob]'s papers in a safe place? Mentioned at the back of the document that 'This paper was taken in the lodging rooms of Catherine Lucas by us Daniel Chandler Jos [Joseph] Ellis [both King's messengers in ordinary]. The mark of Jane Pickering'.
