That the enclosed letter to Mr Thompson is to be taken by Captain Waddington to Calais and delivered into Thompson's own hand. Waddington is to make enquiries 'in a quiet and private manner' about Thompson and if the latter wants money Waddington 'may as of himself and not by any order lend him five guineas' which will be repaid to Lovell by Walpole.
