Having heard from Major Wansborough reports that the late Earl of Seaforth had landed on the west Highland coast, he had investigated and found that there was neither a landing nor ships appearing off the coast. He goes on to say 'I shall have the honour to acquaint you immediately by express to Edinburgh on which you may entirely depend for I shall not presume to amuse you with any idle story that flys up and down and are but the effect of a drunken or cowardly imagination' and 'that he has the honour to be with a very sincere zeal and respect' the recipient's servant.
