Having unsuccessfully applied to succeed his father in post even though he had the support of the Commissioners [? of Customs] and [Caroline] the Princess of Wales, he prays that Walpole will be pleased to consider something for his advantage at the first available opportunity. He mentions Colonel Selwyn (who was, at the Princess of Wales's express desire 'to push' Harris's case to the Treasury), Sir John Jennings and Squire Halsey.
