A letter reporting the diplomatic views of the Marquis de Monteleone. Mentions: 'transporting the infant according to the [Treaty of the] Quadruple Alliance into Italy'; the Duke of Tuscony; the Princess Palatine; the Marquis's hopes for future friendly relations between Britain and Spain; the established French succession; titles and the 'golden fleece'; reconciliation between the Czar of Russia [Peter the Great] and Britain; opposition in the French court to Monteleone's entry into France; meeting with Monsieur Mirville [?Count of Morville]. The author also mentions: the youthfulness of the French ministers of war and marine, and other officers under the Duke of Orléans; meeting the Duke of Bourbon, and the Bishop of Fréjus; and the author's expected arrival on 10 September [1724] in London. Dated on 9 September [1724] 'French Style' [new style].
