Folios 98-99. Petitions from Lawrence White to (1) Charles Delafaye. Petition that he has been confined in the Gate House since '5 of this instant November' by order of Mr Justice Lambert on the oath of George Frances [sic] for aiding and assisting Andrew Clarke 'in trapanning several of his Majesty's subjects beyond sea, in order to enlist in foreign service'; that, as he explains, it is a case of mistaken identity and praying that being 'a very poor man and in a very deplorable condition' not having the wherewithal to subsist and nothing material sworn against him, he be recommended to Lord Harrington for release or, if not, since he is a prisoner of state 'he may be removed and subsisted accordingly'. Justice Wright of Deptford and Buckley a grenadier in Colonel Pulteney's Regiment are mentioned. (2) the Duke of Newcastle in similar terms except for the reference to Lord Harrington.
