Folios 92-93. Lieutenant John Price 'of the Regiment of Foot lately commanded by the Honourable Colonel Maurice Nassau and now reduced' to Lord Townshend. Petition. That he was quartered in Chester; on 20 October [c 1715] Mr Doe 'a professed Jacobite' put himself at the head of an anti-government mob; subsequently when the Pretender was in Scotland [22 December 1715 to February 1716] Doe and others drank the health of the Pretender and the 'late' Duke of Ormond following which Price laid an information against Doe; he relates the events thereafter that led to his being bound over by Edward Partington to appear at the Quarter Sessions on a charge of assault and prays that something be allowed him towards the expenses he has already incurred 'on account of these vexatious prosecutions' and also towards the charges he must necessarily incur in prosecuting Doe and his companions being bound to do so at his own charge.
