Folio 86. Philip Dwyer to the Duke of Newcastle. Petition. That his sentence, a £50 fine, 12 months imprisonment and to give security for his good behaviour for five years, for enlisting men for foreign service effectively amounts to one of life imprisonment since he has neither money nor friends and must remain in 'heavy irons until he starves'. He prays that his miseries be represented to the King. [oldbaileyonline.org gives 16 February 1737 as his date of conviction].
