Folio 98. Petition to the King of Edward Surdeville, Alderman of the Councll of Dublin. On the death of Thomas Bradshaw, members of the Council have chosen aldermen to replace him. Constantine Phipps is the Lord Chancelor and one of the Lord Justices. A number of the Council have attempted to reverse the old constitution and made known their dislike of the Protestant succession, supporting the cause of the [Jacobite] Pretender. The petitioner has been badly treated for supporting the King, and now requests employment in the Royal Treasury of Ireland.
