In obedience to what your lordship told my friend (that you had spoke to Mr Horace Walpole) he attended at the Treasury and asked Mr Lowther if he had any instructions as to my affair, he told him he had not tho [though] he had spoke to Mr Walpole about it, who replied that your lordship had said nothing to him relating to me. I beseech your lordship to put this on some solid foundation either by your letter to my friend or otherwise as your lordship shall graciously think fit'.
