Seditious verse written on the back of part of a letter 'That I was obliged to come out because my father was a vassal to my Lord Huntly and my father was lame himself at that time so I was obliged to come out for him and if I had not it would have disobliged him and my only dependence was on him and see if Mr Wright can do anything with the Captain on my account and send it down as soon as possible pray see if you can get me any money for our trial will be in June and it will be very chargeable, and I cannot raise money my friends being all gone out of the country and the tenant will not pay any rent, pray see if Mr Essington'.
