Description

Folio 70. From Commissioners of Customs. To Lords Commissioners of theTreasury. Place: Custom House, London.

Memorial giving a detailed account of the assault on William Lambert, Comptroller of Customs at Boston, New England and other Customs officers there and praying 'that your Lordships will please to be a means that our officers and their assistants may be protected in the execution of their duty'. Names mentioned are Mr Lechmere, Surveyor General of North America, William Whipple, master of the brigatine 'William and Mary' and Governor [Samuel] Shute. Signed by Thomas Bowen as a true copy.
