Folio 57. From Charles Rivers. To [?Charles Delafaye].
Having already had the honour to acquaint you with the reasons which make me solicitous to be discharged I take the liberty to apply to you again, being assured no person can so well represent my case to my Lord Townshend, who, I believe, (were my sentiments known to His Excellency) would do me the justice to place me in the number of His Majesty's loyal subjects. Were it in my power at this time to be of any real service to the Government I would rather desire to be continued: and if I move for my discharge, 'tis with no other view but that of being hereafter the better qualified for an employment in the service of my king and country which is my sole ambition'.
