Folios 32-33. From George McKenzie [Mackenzie], son of John McKenzie of Delvine [Perthshire]. To King George I.
Petition. That he was attainted in 1716 for taking part in the [Jacobite] Rebellion of 1715; afterwards lived very privately in France; from necessity returned to Scotland in January 1722; was arrested in the July and kept close prisoner in Edinburgh Castle ever since. Praying that he may be given liberty 'to do somewhat for the subsistence of himself and his family'. With referral signed by Lord Townshend.
