Folios 9-10.
Anonymous letter in cypher, without signature or address, with decypher written over. The author mentions the recent death of the Pope [Innocent XIII]; declaring that [My lord] 'is glad that the Reform [?Jacobite restoration] hasn't happened yet because when it does, it will be timelier as Albion's supporters are still showing their enthusiasm, although the current times call for restraint'. [My lord] is eagerly expecting his son-in-law so they can travel together. The author is hoping to receive some news regarding the new Pope soon and mentions that he has been assured that France and Spain will join forces; and that the best they could do is to reinstate the King [James III ?] on his throne.
