(1) Petition from William Guy of Goodmans Fields, London salter of meat, for Letters Patent for his new method of salting beef, pork, butter and other provisions for the sea service. With referral signed by Lord Townshend. (2) Certificates testifying to the effectiveness of Guy's method from Josiah Thwaites, Daniel Small, John Hunter and Abr [Abraham] Dawes; Robert Dingley; John Evans; Edwd [Edward] Bulkley at Fort George to the East India Company; ?C Boys; Will [William] Menzies; Joseph Gascoigne at Port Mahon; Tho [Thomas] Hollyman to the Commissioners of the Victualling Office; Josiah Richardson. (3) Robert Raymond's report recommending the Patent be granted for the term of 14 years in England, Wales and the town of Berwick upon Tweed.
