The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) was established under the Energy Act 2004 is responsible for the decommissioning and clean-up of the UK's civil public sector nuclear sites. The NDA is a non-departmental public body - in 2009 its sponsoring government department was the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC); for some aspects of our functions in Scotland it is responsible to Scottish Ministers.
