Folio 109. Byfield Lyde, late Naval Officer for the Province of the Massachusetts's Bay, New England, to the Duke of Newcastle. Petition to be restored to the Naval Office with the fees, profits and rights of deputation of the same having been removed from in 1733 by the King's order to the Governor to instate Benjamin Pemberton a 'native' [colonial] and inhabitant of New England. Lyde says he can venture to affirm that Pemberton has received ample satisfaction from the profits of the office for any injuries which he has alleged to have endured.
