Description

Folio 101. Sir Thomas Laurence, Secretary of the Province of Maryland, to the Lords Justices. Petition for renewal of his Letters Patent, granted 5 September 1691, giving him leave either to execute the office of Secretary by his 'sufficient' deputy or to permit him to resign the office to his son Thomas Laurence to enjoy and exercise that office by himself or sufficient deputy during the King's pleasure and the residence of Thomas Laurence in the Province. Governor Lionell Copley and Lord Baltimore are mentioned.
