Folios 99-100. William Le Grand to the King. Petition. That in 1726 he was appointed Page of Honour to the Princesses Amelia, now Princess of Orange, and Caroline and continued until nominated Page of Honour to the late Prince of Wales [Frederick] in which post he served until 1740 when the late Prince, deciding Le Grand was too old to continue as Page and unable to provide for him in the Army 'or raise him in his family', granted him an annual pension of £300 until he could otherwise provide for him; that this generosity prevented him for turning to any other employment as he hoped a vacancy would occur in the Prince's service; that now after 25 years attendance and deprived of any future prospect his case be taken into consideration.
