Folio 94. Petition of Elizabeth de Laperrelle, now wife of Elie Ricard of the Island of Jersey, to the King [?George I], asking for an order to be given for the examination of her claims and for rendering justice. Her father died during the Great Storm more than 20 years ago [in 1703], while working for the Crown. She was only three months old and her guardians spent all the fortune he left her. Her husband took them to court but by way of scheming and corruption they managed to escape justice. Elizabeth had to leave her home and family to ask for justice but the prosecutor here in England claims that all her papers were lost, so she is left with nothing but her request to the King. [Note the couple were married at St Ouen on the island of Jersey in 1721].
