Folio 81. Thomas Jones to the Duke of Newcastle. Memorial and petition praying that in recognition of his service to the Crown during the late [Jacobite] Rebellion [of 1745] he be granted the office of Master of Metals and Refiner thereof in Scotland, which has been vacant for nearly a century, with such salary as thought fit or a share of the profits arising 'from all such mines as are or shall be discovered in Scotland and not already granted'.
