Description

Folio 80. Sandys Jones, Wardrobe Keeper and Upholsterer to her late Majesty [Queen Caroline], to the Duke of Newcastle. Memorial. That through an oversight he was left off the Establishment for a pension in lieu of the salary from the late Queen; Princess Amelia, having spoken to the King, sent word that directions were given to the Duke for payment of the pension and arrears; Mr [Henry] Pelham procured the King's warrant for payment of the pension from 25 March 1748 and Jones therefore prays that 'your Grace will be so favourable to him (he having laboured a long time under an ill state of health) to give your orders that he may have his arrears'.
