Folios 72-73. Concerning Colonel Jean Cavalier [died 1740]. Brigadier John Cavalier former commander of the Huguenots during the Cammisard War [1702-1710]; appointed to be Governor of Guernsey 1738. Petition of Cavalier (Cavallier) to the King, asking to be re-employed in the King's service as he is a Colonel who fought against France in the Cévennes and was in charge of a [French Protestant] regiment in Spain, commanded by Lord Gallway. After being injured and left for dead at the Battle of Almansa [Almanza, against the Franco-Spanish forces under the Duke of Berwick] (25 April 1707), he was dismissed by the Ministry.
