Folio 139. John Drinkwater to the Duke of Newcastle. Petition that the sentence against John Wills, convicted at the Old Bailey on 17 January [1737] of perjury, may be executed, Drinkwater fearing for his life if Wills is granted a pardon. Drinkwater gives a detailed account of his treatment whilst in jail as a result of the false allegations of Wills.
