Folios 133- 136. Mary Child, wife of John Child cutler, to [Charles] Viscount Townshend. Two petitions on behalf of her husband both acknowledging the charity of Townshend and his wife towards the petitioner and her five children. In the first she prays for her husband's release, he being 'a stranger in this Kingdom' and unable to procure bail. In the second she again asks for her husband's liberty as in obedience to Townshend's commands she 'has used all possible means to find out somebody that would bail her husband but can get nobody, everyone being afraid of being concerned in such an affair, which they do not know the consequence of'.
