Petition of the Mayor, Jurats and Commonalty of the town and parish of Maidstone in the county of Kent for the granting of a writ of ad quod damnum to establish a 'market on the second Tuesday in every month for ever for the buying and selling of all and all manner of sheep and other cattle'. With a note from [the Duke of] Bedford refering the petition to the Attorney or Solicitor General. Enclosed an affidavit from William Cranston of Johnsons Court sworn before P. Holford; an inquisition led by Richard Merry sheriff; and Attorney General D [Dudley] Ryder's report.
