Description

Folios 194-198. Petition to the King from Osmond Cooke of London, distiller, requesting Royal Letters Patent for his invention of 'a new method of cleansing and improving British spirits and now makes a refined spirit as good wholesome and in every respect equal to the best Holland or Cologn[e] Geneva imported from Holland or Germany'. With a note from [the Duke of] Bedford refering the petition to the Attorney or Solicitor General. Enclosed Osmond's affidavit sworn before A Allen and Attorney General D [Dudley] Ryder's report.
