Folios 55-86. Papers relating to the petition to the King from Edward, Earl of Oxford and his wife, Lady Henrietta Cavendish Holles, to hold a market in the manor of Tyburn in the parish of St Marylebone, Middlesex. They comprise: the petition; the report of the Attorney General in favour of the petition, which includes details of objections to the petition by Lord Craven and the executors of William Lowndes, and by Philip Baker, mainly on the ground that it would interfere with their rights to markets in Marlborough or Carnaby Street, and in Great Conduit Street respectively; two related copy writs ad quod damnum and jurors' inquisitions; and 14 related affidavits by local inhabitants which include details of the development of streets and buildings in St Marylebone and St James Westminster.
