Folios 107-109. (1) Petition of Richard Griffith [alias Sergeant] that his sentence of death for aiding, abetting and assisting Edward Dalton in the murder of John Waller in the pillory, be respited. With certificate 53 signatures. [Old Bailey Online gives the conviction date as 6 September 1732 and the date of the Recorder's report as 5 October 1732]. (2) W [?William] Wilkins to Sir Robert Walpole 'I am desired by Deputy Child to wait on you with the petition of one Griffith, who is condemned for being accessory to the murder of the fellow who was killed in the pillory. Tis signed by some of the most considerable traders in my Lord Mayor's ward; and Deputy Child says that they are all so in earnest for the man's life, that if His Majesty is so good as to grant the petition, it will, he is sure, engage them most zealously in his service'.
