Description

Folios 98-99. Petition of John Carter praying for mercy having been capitally convicted with Peter Rivers at the Old Bailey for the highway robbery of Henry Howard. With a certificate of good character from Sir James Etheredge, George Bruere and 23 others including the two members of Parliament for Great Marlow. [Old Bailey Online gives the conviction date as 28 February 1730 and the date of the Recorder's report as 10 April]. Copy.
