Captured ship: Zwarte Arend of Flushing (Vlissingen), otherwise Black Eagle, or Black Spread Eagle, Aigle Noir (master Simon Cornelissen Hurssels)
History: a Dutch merchant ship (250 tons, 13 guns), bound from St Kitts (left in February 1665) first to La Rochelle and then north-about Scotland to Vlissingen, laden with sugar, indigo and cotton; taken in fight on 4 May 1665 off the Vlie (or the Vlie Gat, between Vlieland and Terschelling) by HMS Bredah (Robert Kirby commanding), and first brought into the Gunfleet and afterwards (after 18 May) into Harwich. Examinations taken aboard HMS Swiftsure, 20 May 1665.
