Listing continued from ADM 137/23/6.

Folios 460-470: SS Mary Ada Short (ship¡¯s official number 106412), owned by Messrs. James Westoll & Co, Sunderland, captured and sunk on 18 February 1915 by the Prinz Eitel Friedrich. Under the command of Captain Albert Edward Dobbing she left Rosario on 3 February 1915 with 5,020 tons of maize for St. Vincent. Captured at Lat. 5¢ª49¡¯S Long. 28¢ª36¡¯W about 250 mile eastward of the usual route so the capture was pure mischance, (folio 461). Index of documents, (folio 462). Letter from the owner Mr James Westoll to the Admiralty reporting the loss of the ship and the release of the crew at Newport News, (folio 463). Telegram 11 March 1915 from Captain Dobbing at Newport News to the Owners reporting the capture, (folio 464). Ship Casualties form 15 March 1915 and signed by James Westoll at Sunderland, (folio 465). Statement made by Captain Dobbing 30 March 1915 at Sunderland (folios 466-467). Translation of letter to Captain Dobbing dated 6 March 1915 from Korvett Captain Thierichens of the Prinz Eitel Friedrich declaring that the Mary Ada Short has been taken as a prize and sunk, and her crew with their private possessions taken on board the auxiliary cruiser, (folio 468). Examination on oath of Captain Albert Edward Dobbing, dated 14 March 1915, at Sunderland, (folios 469-471).

Folios 472-479: SS Willerby (ship¡¯s official number 124279), owned by Messrs. Ropner and Co., West Hartlepool, captured and sunk on 20 February 1915 by the Prinz Eitel Friedrich. Under the command of Captain John Robert Wedgewood she left Marseilles on 5 February 1915 in ballast for Buenos Aires. Captured at Lat. 1¢ª18¡¯S Long. 29¢ª54¡¯W she was 60 miles eastward of the most easterly route. The Master was endeavouring to carry out Admiralty instructions and when sighted carried on at full speed to try and escape, (folio 473). Index of documents, (folio 474). Two press cuttings, including a photograph of the Prinz Eitel Friedrich, reporting that Captain John Robert Wedgewood of the Willerby tried to ram the Prinz Eitel Friedrich, (folio 475). Telegram dated 10 March 1915 from Captain Wedgewood at Newport News to W.H. Ropner, Liverpool reporting the sinking and release of the crew, (folio 476). Shipping casualties form dated 17 March 1915 signed by John Cartwright, Receiver of Wrecks, at West Hartlepool, (folio 477). Examination on oath dated 30 March 1915 of Captain Wedgewood (paper number M 7487) at Whitby, (folios 478-479).
