Folio 1: Explanatory note.

Folios 2-3: Hand written notes to Commander Henry Theodore Augustus Bosanquet from the Director of the Trade Division, Admiralty War Staff requesting the complete collection of all the statements and documents for all vessels captured, in preparation for future enquiries.

Folios 4-5: Volume 1 (ADM 137/21). Index to names of British Merchant vessels captured or sunk by German cruiser Emden: Indus, Lovat, Kabinga, Killin, Diplomat, Trabboch, Clan Matheson, King Lud, Tymeric, Gryfevale, Ribera, Foyle, Buresk, Clan Grant, Ben Mohr, Ponrabbal, Troilus, Exford, St.Egbert, Chilkana, Glenturret, Newburn, Ayesha and Loredano. Auxiliaries to Emden: Markomannia and Pontoporos.

Folios 6-7: Volume 2 (see ADM 137/22). Index to names of British Merchant vessels captured or sunk by German cruisers. By cruiser Konigsberg: City Of Winchester. Folios 53-54: Hand written Index of documents relating to the ships captured.

Folio 55: Telegram, 14 September 1914, from the Intelligence Office, Colombo with a report of the sighting of Emden with four Prizes.

Folio 56: Telegram, 15 September 1914, referring to sighting and sinking of British ship Diplomat, capture of Kabinga and Greek collier Pontoporos.

Folio 57: Telegram, 15 September 1914, that Kabinga reported Emden sank British ships Indus 10 September 1914, Lovat 10 September 1914, Killen 13 September 1914, Diplomat 13 September 1914 and Trabbock 14 September 1914 Kabinga captured on 12 September 1914 was released on 14 September 1914 with crews of all the above steamers.

Folios 58-59: Telegram, 23 September 1914 reporting Emden sighting and course.

Folio 60: Letter dated 24 September 1914 by John William Stewart Anderson, Admiralty to the Secretary of State for India requesting an enquiry as to the circumstances of these captures.

Folios 61-62: Telegrams dated 29 September 1914 from the Admiralty to the Intelligence Officer Colombo wanting a report as to possible times, positions and courses of vessels captured and any steps taken to avoid capture.

Folios 63-64: Extract from telegram, 4 October 1914 from the Viceroy of India reporting positions at times of captures. Masters did not attempt to escape or use wireless to warn other ships.

Folio 65: Draft press release and hand written comments with regard to the capture and sinking of merchant vessels by the German Cruiser Emden in the Bay of Bengal.
