Mediterranean Sea: Italy, South-West coast: Sicilia (Sicily): Augusta. Entitled 'PLAN of the CITY and HARBOUR of AUGUSTA on the East coast of Sicily'. Chart shows coastline, hydrography, harbours, topography, land use, farms, roads, settlements, buildings including ancient sites, fortifications including Martello Tower [Priolo Gargallo], Fort Vittoria, Fort Garcia, land marks, and remarks including mention of the Aguglia Tower, remains of the ancient Hybla Galeota and site of the Castle of Limbetra. Manuscript. Watermark: 'J Whatman, 1808'. Latitude, longitude and magnetic variation referred to in remarks; North point with 8 point compass indicator. Scale: 5 inches to 1 English mile or 2018 yards. Surveyed by Lieutenant William Henry Smyth, Royal Navy
