Mediterranean Sea: Italy, South-West coast: Sicilia (Sicily). Entitled 'SICILY Schmettau's Map corrected to the Points and Coast Survey of CAPTAIN WM HY [William Henry] SMYTH'. Chart shows coastline, topography, buildings, and remarks including instructions for engraving by W M Walker. Manuscript. North point with compass indicator. Scales: 3.8 inches to 50 English statute miles, 4½ inches to 50 English and Italian miles (60 to a degree) and 4½ inches to 15 French leagues of 3 miles. Annotated: 'Plate 2' (in ink)
