Charles Eugene BEDAUX: American. Although born in France, prior to the Second World War BEDAUX developed an international production management consultancy based in the USA. He was in Paris in 1940 when it was occupied by the Germans, and made high-level contact with the Abwehr at whose disposal he was said to have placed his whole organization. In 1943 he was arrested by the French in Algeria and handed over locally to the US military. He later committed suicide while in detention. Later interrogation of an Abwehr officer involved with his case indicated that BEDAUX's role in North Africa was to gather military and economic intelligence. With photographs
