Petition for mercy addressed to King George ll by Robert Campbell [Robert McGregor, alias Campbell, alias Drummond, alias Robin Oig one of the sons of Rob Roy McGregor] under sentence of death in the Tollbooth at Edinburgh for the crimes of hamesucken, violent abduction, forcible marriage and rape of Jean Kay [Key] heiress of Edinbelly. [The trial took place on 24 December 1753 and Campbell executed 16 February 1754].
