Folios 91-94. Letter from Lord Justice Clerk in Glasgow to Holderness, together with a memorandum, concerning Archibald Macdonald of Barisdale having been attainted for his part in the late [Jacobite] rebellion, and a conditional pardon be granted to him by the King. That he should not be free to transport himself to an overseas plantation in America, but rather should be delivered over to the East India Company who's service he should enlist in as a soldier. If the proposal 'shall not be relished' than he is to remain a prisoner [at Edinburg Castle] until such time he is offered bail, and set at liberty to transport himself overseas.
