Folios 77-78. Letter from General Bland to Holderness reporting on discussions between Colonel Watson and the Duchess of Gordon and recommending that the proposed annual rent of seventy pounds sterling for the town of Maryburgh and land around Fort William, be agreed as it represents something of a bargain. Furthermore, once agreed, actions can be taken to 'root out disaffected people and civilize the Highlander'.
